Clashes in Pal­hal­lan af­ter po­lice ve­hi­cle hit, in­jures youth

The trans­fer was ne­ces­si­tated due to of­fi­cer’s psy­cho-col­lapse.—KP BARAMUALLA, IHK—Scores of res­i­dents in this Pal­hal­lan area of north Kash­mir staged a protest on Mon­day af­ter­noon af­ter a speedy po­lice jeep hit and in­jured a lo­cal youth and fled from the spot.

As per re­ports, a youth Owais Ah­mad Tantray, son of Nazir Ah­mad Tantray, of Roy Pora Pal­hal­lan was hit by a speedy po­lice jeep which fled from the spot. The in­jured was im­me­di­ately taken to a lo­cal hos­pi­tal where­from he was shifted to SKIMS Sri­na­gar for treat­ment. The health con­di­tion of Owais, a painter, is said to be crit­i­cal.

The lo­cals while protest­ing tried to block the road, how­ever, colonies for Pan­dits and In­dian sol­diers would not be al­lowed. They also called for im­po­si­tion the ad­di­tional forces of po­lice reached the spot which re­sult­ing in clashes. The pro­tes­tors hurled stones on forces who fired dozens of tear smoke of ban on liquor and said that Jammu and Kash­mir was a Mus­lim dom­i­nated ter­ri­tory, shells in re­tal­i­a­tion. All shops and busi­ness es­tab­lish­ments were shut down. The clashes con­tin­ued when this re­port was filed.—KR
