Clashes in Palhallan after police vehicle hit, injures youth

The transfer was necessitated due to officer’s psycho-collapse.—KP BARAMUALLA, IHK—Scores of residents in this Palhallan area of north Kashmir staged a protest on Monday afternoon after a speedy police jeep hit and injured a local youth and fled from the spot.
As per reports, a youth Owais Ahmad Tantray, son of Nazir Ahmad Tantray, of Roy Pora Palhallan was hit by a speedy police jeep which fled from the spot. The injured was immediately taken to a local hospital wherefrom he was shifted to SKIMS Srinagar for treatment. The health condition of Owais, a painter, is said to be critical.
The locals while protesting tried to block the road, however, colonies for Pandits and Indian soldiers would not be allowed. They also called for imposition the additional forces of police reached the spot which resulting in clashes. The protestors hurled stones on forces who fired dozens of tear smoke of ban on liquor and said that Jammu and Kashmir was a Muslim dominated territory, shells in retaliation. All shops and business establishments were shut down. The clashes continued when this report was filed.—KR
