Us­man guides NBP in Naya Naz­imabad Ra­mazan Cup last-8 round

KARACHI—Youth­ful Us­man Qadir pro­pelled Na­tional Bank of Pak­istan (NBP) in the quar­ter­fi­nal of 4th Naya Naz­imabad Ra­mazan Cup Flood­light Cricket Tour­na­ment when they de­feated Atiq Es­tates by six wick­ets here at the Lawai Sta­dium on Mon­day.

Us­man, son of for­mer leg­endary leg-spin­ner Ab­dul Qadir, cracked an en­ter­pris­ing 48, took two wick­ets for onerun in an amaz­ing four overs spell and held a catch to sin­gle hand­edly guide his team to the knock-out stage.

Bat­ting first, Atiq Es­tate could man­age 116 for the loss of seven wick­ets in 20 overs. Rameez Aziz made 37 in 27 balls with two sixes and two bound­aries. Am­mad Butt got 33 with two tow­er­ing sixes and one four.

Be­sides Us­man, medium pacer Muham­mad Afaq snapped-up two wick­ets for 16 runs.

NBP, in re­ply, reached the tar­get at the start of 18th over.

Us­man Qadir lifted three sixes and struck two bound­aries in his 48 off 47 balls. Fa­heem Ashraf scored an un­beaten 15 with a lone six. Sum­ma­rized scores: Atiq Es­tate 116-7 in overs (Ramiz Aziz 37, Am­mad Butt 33, Us­man Qadir 2-1, Muham­mad Afaq 2-16, Nabeel Khalid 1-17).
