Ebad for concerted efforts to eliminate polio
KARACHI—Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan has said that it is the collective responsibility of the entire society to undertake concerted efforts for the elimination of polio.
He was of the view that if the cases of polio keep coming to the fore, there is a risk that travel ban on Pakistanis may persist.
The Governor was talking to a delegation of the International Polio Plus Committee Chair, Michael K.Mc. Govern. The members of the delegation included chairman of Pakistan Polio Committee National Chair, Aziz Memon, Carol Pandak, Judith Deiment, Saleem Rao, Owais Kohari and Iran Qureshi.
Ebad was of the view that there is a need to foster awareness among the people that polio vaccine can help children from the risk of disability. He said some elements are spreading baseless propaganda against polio vaccine. The Governor said that cent percent coverage of children will help ensure eradication of polio.
He stated that the federal and provincial governments are undertaken significant steps for eradicating polio. The role of World Health Organization and Rotary International is also commendable.—APP
