DTS to up fa­cil­i­ties to tourists

PESHAWAR—Since up-gra­da­tion of the Tourist Ser­vices Wing of the Tourism De­part­ment to a full-fledged Directorate of Tourist Ser­vices (DTS), the en­tity has been ef­fec­tively con­trol­ling and su­per­vis­ing the ho­tel and travel in­dus­try and other busi­nesses re­lated to tourism in Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa.

The pro­vin­cial gov­ern­ment through three Acts af­ter pass­ing from the Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa As­sem­bly strength­ened the le­gal and ad­min­is­tra­tive sta­tus of the DTS to en­sure the qual­ity of ser­vices and ameni­ties to the tourists and reg­u­late the ho­tels, restau­rants and other busi­nesses of tourism in the prov­ince.

The directorate through reg­u­la­tions would now have ef­fec­tive con­trol on the ho­tel and travel in­dus­try and would make sure devel­op­ment of pro­fes­sion of travel agen­cies, ho­tels, restau­rants and tourist guides to cater the best qual­ity of ser­vices and fa­cil­i­ties to the tourists vis­it­ing Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa.

How­ever, af­ter de­vo­lu­tion process un­der the 18th Con­sti­tu­tional Amend­ment, the de­part­ment came un­der the ad­min­is­tra­tive con­trol of gov­ern­ment of Tourism De­part­ment of Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa as Tourist Ser­vices Wing and re­cently been de­clared as directorate with a new name of Directorate of Tourist Ser­vices, she re­marked.
