NAB ap­pre­hends mill owner for not pay­ing Rs94m elec­tric­ity bill

PESHAWAR—NAB Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa to­day ar­rested ac­cused Daud Khan owner of Daud Steel Mills Bara Khy­ber Agency for will­fully de­fault­ing elec­tric­ity bills worth Rs.94 Mil­lion caus­ing huge loss to the na­tional ex­che­quer.

A spokesman for NAB said that the ac­cused will­fully de­fault elec­tric­ity bills for sev­eral years. De­spite sev­eral no­tices he de­lib­er­ately and in­ten­tion­ally re­fused to make good his dues. The NAB has de­cided to take to task all the big fishes who de­vi­ously and will­fully de­faulted elec­tric­ity bills.

It mer­its to men­tion here that an MOU has been signed be­tween NAB and Min­istry of Wa­ter & Power to re­cover dues to tune of Rs.65 Bil­lion from the de­fault­ers of TESCO & PESCO and ap­prox­i­mately Rs.70 Mil­lion has al­ready been re­cov­ered by the Bureau.

Fur­ther in­quiry is be­ing ac­tively pur­sued by NAB Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa and more ar­rests of the elec­tric­ity de­faulter are on card. The ac­cused per­son will be pre­sented be­fore the Ac­count­abil­ity Court for ob­tain­ing his phys­i­cal cus­tody. Mean­while, NAB Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa to­day ar­rested Bostan Khan prop­erty dealer res­i­dent of Haripur al­legedly cheated pub­lic at large and looted Rs. 275 mil­lion ru­pees from in­no­cent peo­ple fraud­u­lently.

The NAB Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa ini­ti­ated in­quiry against the ac­cused and oth­ers upon re­ceipt of sev­eral com­plaints. The ac­cused in con­nivance with oth­ers trans­fer of low value lands to in­no­cent peo­ple whereas show­ing them high value lands at time of deal/ agree­ment to sell.

Thus de­priv­ing them from hard earned money and sav­ings for life and caus­ing a loss to mem­ber of gen­eral pub­lic by means of cheating to tune of Rs.275 mil­lion (claimed so far).

It mer­its to men­tion here that NAB Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa has al­ready ar­rested ac­cused Me­htab Ali Qureshi S/o Aftab Iqbal Qureshi, Malik Habib s/o Malik Ab­dul, Adil Showkat s/o Raja Shawkat alias Adil Kayani alias Ma­jor Adil alias Adil Hus­sain Shah alias Ad­nan Ali Shah alias Raja Adeelof Rawalpindi in the in­stant case.
