Cit­i­zen­ship of five Bahrai­nis charged with ter­ror re­voked

MANAMA—A Bahraini court has stripped five peo­ple of their cit­i­zen­ship and or­dered them jailed af­ter con­vict­ing them on ter­ror­ism charges, the Bahrain News Agency re­ported Tues­day.

Two un­named de­fen­dants were sen­tenced to three and ten years over ac­tiv­i­ties re­lated to in­volve­ment in the Al-Wafaa Is­lamic Party.

The two men were ar­rested fol­low­ing a bomb at­tack in the north­ern vil­lage of al-Qadam in Jan­uary 2016. Three oth­ers were sen­tenced to 15 years for their in­volve­ment in another group known as the Mukhtar Brigades. One of the men was fined 200,000 di­nars ($530,000).—Agen­cies
