India’s first fe­male Uber driver found dead

BENGALURU—Veerath Bharati, who made head­lines as one of India’s first fe­male cab driv­ers, was found dead in her rented home in north­ern Bengaluru on Mon­day, re­ported The Hin­dus­tan Times.

Bharati was found hang­ing from the ceil­ing in her house around 7pm by her land­lord, Shankar Singh, Singh went to Bharati’s house af­ter he found her cab aban­doned and could not find her. He found Bharati hang­ing when he looked through the win­dow.

Singh im­me­di­ately called the po­lice, who de­clared Bharati dead.

Bharati’s door was un­locked and po­lice did not find a suicide note. Given the sus­pi­cious cir­cum­stances, po­lice are now in­ves­ti­gat­ing the cause of death, India To­day re­ports.

For now, they have filed a case of suicide.
