Res­i­dents de­scribe Sasta Bazaars great respite in Ra­mazan

IS­LAM­ABAD—Res­i­dents of the fed­eral cap­i­tal visit sasta bazaars to pur­chase daily use com­modi­ties at cheaper rates and de­scribed them a great respite dur­ing the holy month of Ra­mazan.

“There is a great Ramzan bazar just round the cor­ner, we dash to get house­holds things at lower prices con­ve­niently, so it is a tremen­dous respite for the peo­ple who had been, oth­er­wise, groan­ing un­der in­fla­tion­ary im­pact,” Naqibul­lah, a pri­vate school teacher said.

He was of the view the ini­tia­tive could also be ex­tended be­yond Ra­mazan, if the author­i­ties con­cerned started work for the re­lief to the masses.

Cap­i­tal Ter­ri­tory (ICT) ad­min­is­tra­tion and Cap­i­tal Devel­op­ment Author­ity (CDA) have es­tab­lished eight Ramzan sasta bazaars in the city to pro­vide es­sen­tial com­modi­ties to the cit­i­zens at low rates.

Stalls in­clud­ing veg­eta­bles, fruit, es­sen­tial items, dec­o­ra­tions pieces, crock­ery poul­try have been es­tab­lished to fa­cil­i­tate cus­tomers.

An of­fi­cial of CDA said that a proper sys­tem was in place for qual­ity check of sub-stan­dard items and rates, adding that all com­modi­ties are be­ing checked on daily ba­sis to fa­cil­i­tate pub­lic.

ICT Dis­trict Ad­min­is­tra­tion has set up four sasta bazaars in the ru­ral ar­eas i.e Tar­lai, Bhara Khau, Pakistan Town and Rawat as well as Cap­i­tal Devel­op­ment Author­ity (CDA), has also set up sasta bazaars at Sec­tor, G-6, G-10, I-9 and H-9.

Mean­while, Is­lam­abad Mar­ket Com­mit­tee was fixing the rates of fruits and veg­eta­bles on daily ba­sis in the Sabzi Mandi, Is­lam­abad and rate list is be­ing supplied to the shop­keep­ers in­stantly for dis­play at their shops and strict im­ple­men­ta­tion was be­ing en­sured.

The Is­lam­abad Mar­ket Com­mit­tee, in co-op­er­a­tion with traders is keep­ing the rate of profit of fruit and veg­eta­bles at min­i­mum level dur­ing Ramzan in or­der to pro­vide re­lief to the cit­i­zens.

ICT Ad­min­is­tra­tion has also formed price con­trol com­mit­tees headed by the mag­is­trates to keep strict watch over the prices of food items and take on the spot ac­tion against the prof­i­teers. The teams are also check­ing qual­ity of milk and meat com­ing from other cities and tak­ing ac­tion on spot against the adul­ter­ators.
