Residents describe Sasta Bazaars great respite in Ramazan
ISLAMABAD—Residents of the federal capital visit sasta bazaars to purchase daily use commodities at cheaper rates and described them a great respite during the holy month of Ramazan.
“There is a great Ramzan bazar just round the corner, we dash to get households things at lower prices conveniently, so it is a tremendous respite for the people who had been, otherwise, groaning under inflationary impact,” Naqibullah, a private school teacher said.
He was of the view the initiative could also be extended beyond Ramazan, if the authorities concerned started work for the relief to the masses.
Capital Territory (ICT) administration and Capital Development Authority (CDA) have established eight Ramzan sasta bazaars in the city to provide essential commodities to the citizens at low rates.
Stalls including vegetables, fruit, essential items, decorations pieces, crockery poultry have been established to facilitate customers.
An official of CDA said that a proper system was in place for quality check of sub-standard items and rates, adding that all commodities are being checked on daily basis to facilitate public.
ICT District Administration has set up four sasta bazaars in the rural areas i.e Tarlai, Bhara Khau, Pakistan Town and Rawat as well as Capital Development Authority (CDA), has also set up sasta bazaars at Sector, G-6, G-10, I-9 and H-9.
Meanwhile, Islamabad Market Committee was fixing the rates of fruits and vegetables on daily basis in the Sabzi Mandi, Islamabad and rate list is being supplied to the shopkeepers instantly for display at their shops and strict implementation was being ensured.
The Islamabad Market Committee, in co-operation with traders is keeping the rate of profit of fruit and vegetables at minimum level during Ramzan in order to provide relief to the citizens.
ICT Administration has also formed price control committees headed by the magistrates to keep strict watch over the prices of food items and take on the spot action against the profiteers. The teams are also checking quality of milk and meat coming from other cities and taking action on spot against the adulterators.
