Sopore on boil on youth killing
SRINAGAR—A large number of people including Hurriyet leaders and activists attended the funeral prayers of a youth, Sameer Ahmad, who was martyred by Indian troops, Tuesday.
Hurriyet leaders Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Ghulam Nabi War and activists of Tehreek-e-Hurriyet and Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement attended the funeral in Dooru area of Sopore. The youth, whom Indian police claimed to be a Mujahid, was martyred by troops in Drugmulla area of Kupwara district. He was a resident of Dooru, Sopore.
The killing led to forceful anti-protest demonstrations in Sopore. The angry protesters raising pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans also set ablaze police vehicles in the area. The people carrying the body of the martyred youth marched on the streets of Sopore. Several people were injured in clashes between police and protesters at Nagri, Kawardi and adjacent areas of Kupwara district.
Hurriyet leader Zafar Akbar visited the martyred family and expressed solidarity with them over the martyrdom of Sameer Ahmad.
