UN’s Kash­mir role decades long over­due

SRI­NA­GAR—In oc­cu­pied Kash­mir, the Sec­re­tary Gen­eral of All Par­ties Hur­riyet Con­fer­ence, Shab­bir Ah­mad Shah has urged the United Na­tions to take prac­ti­cal steps for set­tle­ment of the Kash­mir dis­pute.

Shab­bir Ah­mad Shah in a state­ment is­sued in Sri­na­gar, Tues­day pointed out that India through its provoca­tive ac­tions was en­dan­ger­ing the peace­ful at­mos­phere of South Asian re­gion.

He wel­comed the con­cern ex­pressed by the United Na­tions and the United States over the on­go­ing bloody strug­gle in Jammu and Kash­mir, but urged the world lead­er­ship to rise above the rhetor­i­cal state­ments on Kash­mir and take prac­ti­cal steps to re­solve the long-pend­ing dis­pute.—KMS
