Pak to par­tic­i­pate in Ju­nior Asian Girls Net­ball Cham­pi­onship in Korea

KARACHI—Pakistan will take part in the Un­der-20 Ju­nior Asian Girls Net­ball Cham­pi­onship to be held in April, 2017 in Seoul, Korea.

As many as 12 girls from Pakistan would par­tic­i­pate in the Asian Cham­pi­onship; Pres­i­dent Pakistan Net­ball Fed­er­a­tion (PNF) Mu­das­sar Arain said while talk­ing to APP here on Tues­day.

The se­lec­tion of 12 girls would be made from Ju­nior Na­tional Girls Net­ball Cham­pi­onship be­ing or­ga­nized in Septem­ber this year at Sport Com­plex Is­lam­abad, he added.

Girls from each prov­ince would be given op­por­tu­nity to par­tic­i­pate in the Na­tional Cham­pi­onship and 20 girls who give out­stand­ing per­for­mance will be con­sid­ered for se­lec­tion, he said.

Later, the camp would be set up for 20 girls from Novem­ber 2016 till April 2017 where Aus­tralian Coach would im­part them 2-month train­ing.Out of 20 girls at the camp, 12 girls, who would give out­stand­ing per­for­mance would be picked up for Asian Cham­pi­onship, Arian said.

As many as 16 Asian coun­tries in­clud­ing Sri Lanka, Mal­dives, India, Pakistan, Sin­ga­pore, Thai­land, Malaysia, Tai­wan and oth­ers are par­tic­i­pat­ing in the Asian Cham­pi­onship in Korea.

The ex­penses of 4-day Na­tional Cham­pi­onship would be borne by the Pakistan Net­ball Fed­er­a­tion, while 50 per cent expense of Asian Cham­pi­onship would be borne by Fed­er­a­tion and 50 per cent by Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), he said.
