Aisam to rep­re­sent Pakistan in Wim­ble­don

LA­HORE—Pakistan ten­nis star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi is gear­ing up to rep­re­sent Pakistan in the on­go­ing Wim­ble­don Ten­nis Cham­pi­onship in London.

This will be right-handed ten­nis player’s 11th ap­pear­ance in the grass courts’ event and 36th in the Grand Slam events.

Aisam will part­ner with Brazil’s Marcelo De­mo­liner for the Dou­bles event.

“I will do my best to put up an im­pres­sive show along with my part­ner and I look for­ward to an ex­cit­ing chal­lenge,” he told APP from London on Tues­day.

The 36-year-old’s best per­for­mance in Wim­ble­don came in 2010 when he reached the quar­ter-fi­nal stage in 2010.

The La­hore-born turned pro­fes­sional in 1998. Since then he has bagged 11 ca­reer ti­tles.

His best Grand Slam per­for­mance was back in 2010 when he played the US Open fi­nal along­side Ro­han Bopanna against Bryan broth­ers.—APP
