Bill Boards: SC or­ders flouted with im­punity

KARACHI—Supreme Court or­der to re­move il­le­gal hoard­ings and bill-boards from the city roads, has been flouted with im­punity, as de­spite the pas­sage of dead­line of June 30, over 90 per­cent such bill boards and hoard­ings have re­mained in place.

On Mon­day night, a huge such hoard­ing col­lapsed on the road dur­ing first thun­der­shower. Luck­ily no one was hurt.

But th­ese bill boards, sprout­ing like mush­rooms have been a hazard to pub­lic life and prop­erty.

Way back, dur­ing Mushar­raf days, all such bill boards and hoard­ings, be­yond the spec­i­fi­ca­tions fixed by the au­thor­i­ties were or­dered to be re­moved.
