Action underway to curb profiteering
ZHOB—In order to ensure the availability of edible items at controlled rates and curbing the profiteering tendency during the Holy month of Ramadan the district administration’s vigorous anti-profiteering drive continued here on Friday. Additional Deputy Commissioner Raz Muhmmad Kakar during a surprise visit to bazaar raided at different shops and fined many shopkeepers for profiteering and selling substandard food items.
Tehsildar Syed Muhammad Mandokhail, Chief Officer Abdul Qadir Tarakai, Incharge slaughter house Dr. Naseebullah Kakar, Tehsildar Mehtab Shah, Labour Inspector Qasim Khan Mandokhail and President Bazaar Union Gul Zaman Nasar accompanied him.
Majority of the shopkeepers, butchers, milks and fruit sellers on Kandahari bazaar, Market Road, Jail Road, Quetta Road and Pir Ghafoor Shah Road were caught redhanded while overcharging and blatantly violating the officially approved prices. Some had also not displayed the rate list ‘Narkhnama’ at their outlets.
During the raids ADC imposed fines on the profiteers on account of charging higher than Narkhnama from the consumers. Talking to media persons he said that the administration would conduct raids against profiteers to provide relief to the masses during the Holy month, adding no one would be allowed to exploit people in the name of profit. ADC said.
