OIC shocked over Kabul ter­ror at­tack

JEDDAH—The Or­ga­ni­za­tion of Is­lamic Co­op­er­a­tion (OIC) has con­demned, in the strong­est terms, the ter­ror­ist at­tack that tar­geted a con­voy of po­lice per­son­nel out­side the cap­i­tal of the Republic of Afghanistan, Kabul, lead­ing to the death of at least forty po­lice of­fi­cers and in­jury of many more oth­ers.

In ex­press­ing his sad­ness over the in­ci­dent, the OIC Sec­re­tary Gen­eral, Iyad Ameen Madani stated that the at­tack will not af­fect the re­solve of the peo­ple and the gov­ern­ment of the Republic of Afghanistan in their ef­forts to fight ter­ror­ism and unify the coun­try.

He said the scourge of ter­ror­ism con­fronting com­mu­ni­ties all over the globe must be elim­i­nated.

The Sec­re­tary Gen­eral ex­pressed his con­do­lences to the Gov­ern­ment of the Republic of Afghanistan and to the fam­i­lies of the vic­tims and wished the wounded fast re­cov­ery from their in­juries.

The Sec­re­tary Gen­eral re­it­er­ated OIC’s firm po­si­tion against ter­ror­ism in all its forms and man­i­fes­ta­tions, call­ing again for con­certed col­lec­tive in­ter­na­tional ef­forts to de­feat this scourge.—Email
