A detailed presentation was made by Secretary HUD & PHED, Punjab on Functioning & Challenges of WASA’s. It was also discussed that according to the Punjab Growth Strategy, the Government of the Punjab aim is to provide clean drinking water and adequate Sanitation facilities to the people. It is one of the priority area as more than 50 per cent diseases are water borne diseases. Currently, the service level of water utilities in Punjab is not satisfactory due to Poor Water Governance & low institutional capacity, Rapid Population Growth & Climate Change Effects.
