Zalmi to re­tain ma­jor­ity of play­ers for PSL’s sec­ond sea­son

PESHAWAR—One of Pak­istan Su­per League’s (PSL) five teams, Peshawar Zalmi, on Fri­day an­nounced they will re­tain most of their play­ing line-up dur­ing PSL’s sec­ond sea­son.

“We will re­tain Shahid Afridi, Dar­ren Sammy, Mo­ham­mad Hafeez, Wa­hab Riaz, Tamim Iqbal, Shaun Tait, Has­san and As­ghar,” said Peshawar Zalmi’s owner, Javed Afridi, while talk­ing to me­dia per­sons.

Afridi added that all other play­ers will be ei­ther traded or trans­ferred. The PSL team is also re­ported to be in con­tact with South African Quinton de Kock and Eng­land’s Ja­son Roy for the up­com­ing sec­ond sea­son of PSL.

Ear­lier, Zalmi’s cap­tain Shahid Afridi, hinted at his dif­fer­ences with the Peshawar Zalmi owner, Javed Afridi.

It was re­ported Quetta Glad­i­a­tors plan to play a cou­ple of T20 matches against Peshawar Zalmi in Eng­land dur­ing the na­tional side’s tour of Bri­tish Isles later this sum­mer.

Peshawar Zalmi’s owner Javed Afridi had welcomed Glad­i­a­tor’s of­fer. De­spite be­ing the run­ner-ups, Zalmi put up a phe­nom­e­nal show in the in­au­gu­ral edi­tion of PSL ear­lier this year.—Agen­cies
