Ebad for timely com­ple­tion of de­vel­op­ment projects

KARACHI—Gover­nor Sindh Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan has said that timely com­ple­tion with ut­most stan­dards was nec­es­sary to en­sure max­i­mum ben­e­fits of de­vel­op­ment projects to the masses.

This he stated while talk­ing with Ma­jor Gen­eral Muham­mad Afzal, Di­rec­tor Gen­eral Fron­tier Works Or­gan­i­sa­tion (FWO) here on Fri­day at Gover­nor House.

Ebad pointed out that FWO was work­ing on many projects of the prov­ince which in­clude Lyari Ex­press Way (LEW), Karachi Hy­der­abad Mo­tor­way (M9) and K-4 wa­ter sup­ply project.

He said that the sec­ond track of LEW must be com­pleted by the end of this year so as to fa­cil­i­tate Karachi­ites. This project has al­ready been de­layed for a long time and ini­ti­a­tion of con­struc­tion work on north bound track af­ter a gap of eight years, it is hoped that it would be com­pleted by De­cem­ber this year, he added.

Gover­nor Sindh lauded the speedy con­struc­tion work on 136 KM long M9 project and said that with its com­ple­tion residents of both cities would ben­e­fit from state of the art trav­el­ing fa­cil­i­ties.

While high­light­ing the im­por­tance of K-IV wa­ter sup­ply project, he stated that it was a vi­tal project with re­gards to over­come the shortage of potable wa­ter to Karachi­ites. KW&SB have al­ready been di­rected to en­sure ju­di­cious sup­ply of avail­able drink­ing wa­ter to all lo­cal­i­ties of city and also take mea­sures to con­trol leak­ages, theft from its lines and ac­tion against il­le­gal hy­drants.

The DG FWO Maj. Gen­eral Muham­mad Afzal in­formed Gover­nor Sindh about the pace of work of var­i­ous projects. He pledged to take ev­ery step for com­ple­tion of north bound track of LEW by the end of this year.
