PPP cam­paign against govt over Panama leaks, load­shed­ding


KARACHI—Fol­low­ing the foot­step of Pak­istan Tehreeke-In­saf, Pak­istan Peo­ple’s Party has also an­nounced to launch cam­paign against the gov­ern­ment over Panama leaks and load shed­ding is­sue.

PPP Cen­tral In­for­ma­tion Sec­re­tary Qa­mar Za­man Kaira, while brief­ing me­dia about the Pro­vin­cial Co­or­di­na­tion Com­mit­tees meet­ing at Bilawal House Karachi on Satur­day, said it has been de­cided to re­struc­ture the party after Eid for launch­ing cam­paign against the gov­ern­ment.

PPP Chair­man Bilawal Bhutto Zar­dari presided over the meet­ing at­tended by Raja Pervez Ashraf, Faryal Talpur, Ja­hangir Badar, Qa­mar Za­man Kaira and party lead­ers from all the four prov­inces.

In the meet­ing, con­ven­ers of the pro­vin­cial co­or­di­na­tion com­mit­tees pre­sented their re­ports re­spec­tively.

Kaira said he could not give the dead­line for party re­struc­tur­ing, how­ever, they were striv­ing to com­plete it as soon as pos­si­ble.

“PPP will try to go with the op­po­si­tion against the gov­ern­ment over these is­sues, how­ever, our party has its own view­point as well”, Kaira said. He said at present coun­try is fac­ing Panama leaks and load shed­ding is­sues. To a ques­tion, Kaira said PPP was play­ing a role of ef­fec­tive op­po­si­tion and would con­tinue to do so.

Com­ment­ing on terms of ref­er­ences for the in­quiry com­mis­sion over Panama leaks, he said op­po­si­tion played ef­fec­tive role over the is­sue but the neg­li­gence was from gov­ern­ment side.

RAWALPINDI: Se­na­tor John McCain, Chair­man of US Se­nate Arms Ser­vices Com­mit­tee ac­com­pa­nied by a Con­gres­sional del­e­ga­tion in­clud­ing Se­na­tor Lind­sey Gra­ham and Se­na­tor Joe Don­nelly who are an of­fi­cial visit to Pak­istan called on Gen­eral Ra­heel Sharif, Chief of Army Staff.
