19 sus­pects in­clud­ing six Afghans held

ISLAMABAD—Islamabad po­lice along with Pak­istan Rangers and other se­cu­rity agen­cies on Satur­day con­ducted search op­er­a­tion in var­i­ous ar­eas of Tarnol po­lice sta­tion and ar­rested 19 sus­pects in­clud­ing six Afghan na­tion­als be­sides re­cov­er­ing cache of weapons from them, po­lice source said. Ac­cord­ing to de­tails, of­fi­cers/ of­fi­cials of Islamabad Po­lice, Pak Rangers and other se­cu­rity agen­cies con­ducted search op­er­a­tion in var­i­ous ar­eas of Tarnol po­lice sta­tion in­clud­ing ‘Sarai Khar­boza’ and its ad­ja­cent ar­eas.

Dur­ing this search op­er­a­tion, also par­tic­i­pated by ASP (Sad­dar Cir­cle) Umer Khan, 19 sus­pects were ar­rested and more than 130 houses were screened. Po­lice ar­rested six Afghan na­tion­als re­sid­ing il­le­gally in the coun­try while arms and am­mu­ni­tion were re­cov­ered from the nabbed per­sons. All of sus­pects have been shifted to po­lice sta­tion for fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tion. SSP Islamabad Sa­jid Kiani has said that the pur­pose of this search op­er­a­tion is to en­sure high vig­i­lance in the city and ev­ery ef­fort will be made to en­sure pro­tec­tion to the lives and prop­erty of cit­i­zens.—APP
