Pre-Eid rush of shop­pers in main mar­kets

KARACHI—A great deal of rush of shop­pers was wit­nessed in Karachi’s main shop­ping cen­tres very late last night till Sehri this morn­ing as Eidul Fitr, the most aus­pi­cious festival is around the cor­ner.

“With a few days left for the Eid ul Fitr, the peo­ple seemed to be on a shop­ping spree”, eye wit­nesses re­marked.

The im­proved law and or­der in the me­trop­o­lis in the wake of the on-go­ing Karachi op­er­a­tion, also con­trib­uted to­wards the con­fi­dence of the shop­pers as well as those of the traders who kept their shops opened till the small hours of Satur­day.

The traders also seemed happy ow­ing to the hus­tle bus­tle in the mar­kets and as well as the rush of the shop­pers the ma­jor- ity of whom con­sisted of women and chil­dren.

The shop­pers were in­clined more for buy­ing new clothes, jewelry and shoes etc,

Traf­fic jam was wit­nessed in old city ar­eas in­clud­ing Li­quatabad, Teen Hati, Karimabad and Tariq Road where a num­ber of ma­jor shop­ping cen­tres are lo­cated.

Sim­i­larly, there was also rush of shop­pers at North Naz­imabad, Clifton, De­fence, Sad­dar, Zainab Mar­ket ar­eas among oth­ers.

Mean­while, the Law En­force­ment Agen­cies (LEAs) have made ad­e­quate se­cu­rity ar­range­ments for the oc­ca­sion which has given boost to the eco­nomic ac­tiv­i­ties in the me­trop­o­lis ahead of the Eid ul Fitr.—APP
