New Chief Justice’s resolve

Pakistan Observer - - OPINION - JAVAID BASHIR

The New Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Justice Mansoor Ali Shah has directed to make SDOs the 13 District & Sessions Judges, 6 Additional District & Session Judges and several Civil Judges. He has taken a bold & revolutionary step to streamline the Judicial Administration and dispensation of Justice. He warned them not to try to influence or approach for favours.

A mechanism for internal audit has been put in place to check mismanagement and irregularities. CTV Cameras will be installed to observe the courtroom functioning. Severe accountability would be conducted. He warned them to straighten or face the music. Non-conformists would be thrown out from the Judicial Service.

Mansoor Ali Shah is the 45th Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, who took oath of office in a simple but graceful ceremony held at the Governor’s house in Lahore. Dignitaries, high ranking officials, Judges and civil authorities attended the ceremony. He was appointed as a Judge of the High Court in 2009. He is known for his expertise in the admin- istrative, Constitutional, environmental and human rights matters. His legal decisions have been widely acclaimed by the national and international legal fraternity.

Speaking on the Occasion the Governor of Punjab said that the government is determined to provide quick justice to the people. Creation of a peaceful and stable society is only possible by impartial, fair and transparent Judicial System. All the institutions must contribute towards establishing strong, vibrant Judicial System to remove injustices.

He directed the staff of the LH C to work diligently and honestly without any fear. He assured them to make all efforts for improving their working conditions and treating them fairly. They must work with a positive mind for the promotion of fair Justice System. We should applaud and appreciate his ideas and resolve to improve the Judicial System. We need such learned and dedicated reformists in the Judiciary. —Via email
