Si­no­hy­dro com­pany were en­grossed in con­struc­tion work on Power House No 4, also called as Ex­ten­sion 4, when the wooden struc­ture they had erected for sup­port col­lapsed, bury­ing nine of them un­der the rub­ble.

Res­cue work­ers soon reached the site, evac­u­ated the in­jured and shifted them to the Pak­istan In­sti­tute of Med­i­cal Sci­ences, Islamabad. Chances of sur­vival of the two work­ers who are still un­der the de­bris are slim, added the sources.

Mean­while, Prime Min­is­ter Nawaz Sharif has con­veyed his con­do­lences to the fam­i­lies of the Chi­nese engi­neers who lost their lives. The prime min­is­ter di­rected the author­i­ties con­cerned to make quick ar­range­ments to send the bod­ies of the de­ceased engi­neers to their home coun­try and en­sure the well-be­ing and safety of Chi­nese engi­neers work­ing on the project.
