AIOU holds summer camps to teach French lan­guage

ISLAMABAD—Al­lama Iqbal Open Univer­sity (AIOU) will hold a summer camp for in­ter­ested stu­dents to teach them ba­sics of French lan­guage. Ac­cord­ingly, it has in­vited ap­pli­ca­tions for chil­dren aged be­tween 6 to 19 years for their reg­is­tra­tion in “French Lan­guage Summer Camp”. It will be open for all the chil­dren liv­ing in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Last date for reg­is­tra­tion is July 15 while classes will be started on July 18. Var­i­ous fun­based ac­tiv­i­ties like games, draw­ings, paint­ings, role plays, cook­ing, singing will be ar­ranged as tool to teach the lan­guage in sim­plest pos­si­ble way, said a press re­lease.

The camp has been ar­ranged on the di­rec­tives of Vice Chan­cel­lor Prof. Dr. Shahid Sid­diqui in or­der to en­gage the chil­dren in healthy and knowl­edge-based ac­tiv­i­ties dur­ing their summer va­ca­tions.

The teach­ing of for­eign lan­guages is an im­por­tant area and the Univer­sity wished that the chil­dren should get the op­por­tu­nity to learn the lan­guage which is al­ready be­ing taught through its reg­u­lar aca­demic pro­gram.

The Univer­sity is also work­ing on a plan to start classes of Chi­nese Lan­guage and it is hoped sim­i­lar fa­cil­ity will be avail­able to them from next year. Ad­mis­sion forms for join­ing the camp could be ob­tained Univer­sity’s the De­part­ment of French at its main cam­pus, Islamabad. Reg­is­tra­tion fee is five thou­sand.

How­ever there would be 50% fee con­ces­sion for the chil­dren of Univer­sity’s em­ploy­ees. The in­ter­ested chil­dren have been ad­vised to pay the fee in the AIOU’S des­ig­nated branches Mus­lim Com­mer­cial Bank (MCB), Na­tional Bank, Al­lied Bank and First Women Bank and send the form to the De­part­ment of French along with the Chal­lan copy (Orig­i­nal).
