Ma­jid Al Fut­taim launches an­other Hyper­mar­ket

More than 1,000 new jobs will be cre­ated upon store open­ing


LAHORE—Ma­jid Al Fut­taim Re­tail, the re­tail arm of Ma­jid Al Fut­taim, the lead­ing shop­ping mall, re­tail and leisure pi­o­neer across the Mid­dle East and North Africa (MENA), has an­nounced the open­ing of its sec­ond hyper­mar­ket, Hyper­star in Lahore, Pak­istan. The hyper­mar­ket, with a to­tal sales area of 7,500 sqm, is open­ing in Em­po­rium mall ad­ja­cent to Expo Cen­tre Lahore and will of­fer more than 26,000 prod­ucts, in­clud­ing the widest choice of fresh prod­ucts and gro­ceries, home ap­pli­ances, sport­ing goods and leisure equip­ment, as well as tex­tile prod­ucts.

The new Hyper­star Em­po­rium mall store is ex­pected to bring a range of eco­nomic ben­e­fits to Pak­istan and has al­ready pro­vided em­ploy­ment to more than 800 peo­ple. It is ex­pected to cre­ate an ad­di­tional 200 di­rect and in­di­rect jobs in Lahore, in­clud­ing 50 lo­cal man­age­ment po­si­tions. Gyu Taeg Kim, Coun­try Man­ager, Hyper­star Pak­istan, said: “The open­ing of our sec­ond Hyper­mar­ket in Lahore marks a ma­jor mile­stone not just for Hyper­star, but for the lo­cal econ­omy. Hyper­star Em­po­rium Mall marks the be­gin­ning of a sig­nif­i­cant 7.5 bil­lion PKR in­vest­ment pro­gramme that will de­liver 4 ad­di­tional stores in Lahore, Karachi, Pe­shawar and Gu­jran­wala.

We are al­ready see­ing the ben­e­fits of this in­vest­ment through job creation and sup­port for lo­cal pro­duc­ers. Be­sides hold­ing ex­clu­sive rights to the Car­refour fran­chise in 38 mar­kets across the Mid­dle East, Africa and Cen­tral Asia, Ma­jid Al Fut­taim now op­er­ates 4 Hyper­star hy­per­mar­kets in Pak­istan.
