Majid Al Futtaim launches another Hypermarket
More than 1,000 new jobs will be created upon store opening
LAHORE—Majid Al Futtaim Retail, the retail arm of Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), has announced the opening of its second hypermarket, Hyperstar in Lahore, Pakistan. The hypermarket, with a total sales area of 7,500 sqm, is opening in Emporium mall adjacent to Expo Centre Lahore and will offer more than 26,000 products, including the widest choice of fresh products and groceries, home appliances, sporting goods and leisure equipment, as well as textile products.
The new Hyperstar Emporium mall store is expected to bring a range of economic benefits to Pakistan and has already provided employment to more than 800 people. It is expected to create an additional 200 direct and indirect jobs in Lahore, including 50 local management positions. Gyu Taeg Kim, Country Manager, Hyperstar Pakistan, said: “The opening of our second Hypermarket in Lahore marks a major milestone not just for Hyperstar, but for the local economy. Hyperstar Emporium Mall marks the beginning of a significant 7.5 billion PKR investment programme that will deliver 4 additional stores in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Gujranwala.
We are already seeing the benefits of this investment through job creation and support for local producers. Besides holding exclusive rights to the Carrefour franchise in 38 markets across the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia, Majid Al Futtaim now operates 4 Hyperstar hypermarkets in Pakistan.
