PTI to lead KP to­wards sus­tained eco­nomic growth

PESHAWAR—Chief Min­is­ter Khy­ber Pukhtunkhwa Pervez Khat­tak has said that PTI gov­ern­ment has the ca­pac­ity to lead the prov­ince to­wards sus­tained eco­nomic growth.

This prov­ince has sur­plus nat­u­ral gas that is be­ing planned for diver­sion to power gen­er­a­tion as his gov­ern­ment wanted to make KP eco­nom­i­cally vi­able unit of the fed­er­a­tion where there are multi-faceted av­enues of em­ploy­ment, growth, in­dus­tri­al­iza­tion and eco­nomic devel­op­ment.

He was pre­sid­ing over a meet­ing on spe­cial ini­tia­tive and fast track ex­e­cu­tion of projects spe­cially eco­nomic zones, in­dus­tri­al­iza­tion, in­fra­struc­ture, devel­op­ment, so­cial sec­tor in the CM Sec­re­tar­iat here Mon­day. Sen­a­tor Mohsin Aziz, Ghu­lam Dasta­gir Khan Chair­man KP EZDMC Spe­cial Eco­nomic Zone, Mohsin M. Syed Chief Ex­ec­u­tive KP EZDMC, Chief Sec­re­tary Am­jad Ali Khan, ad­min-is­tra­tive sec­re­taries and other rel­e­vant at­tended. The meet­ing de­cided to pur­sue the Chi­nese in­vest-ment for cir­cu­lar rail in Peshawar. It also de­cided that es­tab­lish­ment of KP In­sur­ance Com­pany and KP Hold­ing Com­pany.

Chief Min­is­ter said that we have a lot of av­enues for hy­del power gen­er­a­tion and at the same time we have ex­tra nat­u­ral gas which his gov­ern­ment de­cided to di­vert to in­dus­trial sec­tor to boost in­dus­tri­al­iza­tion in the prov­ince. Ini­tially his gov­ern­ment iden­ti­fied Hat­tar, Karak/Ko­hat and Rashkai for in­dus­tri­al­iza­tion and the nat­u­ral gas would be used for the pur­pose.

We will gen­er­ate power from nat­u­ral gas to run in­dus­trial units in the prov­ince. He said that we are quick learner of our past in­ter­ac­tion with WAPDA and there­fore we ra­tio­nal­ized our ap­proach to re­duce de­pen­dence on WAPDA be­cause WAPDA is re­luc­tant to give us our share of elec­tric­ity. His gov­ern­ment has made up its mind to pro­duce elec­tric­ity for in­dus­trial con­sump­tion and meet­ing our other re­quire­ments.

He asked the con­cern of­fi­cials to in­vite bid­dings for the pur­pose. Chief Min­is­ter said that his gov­ern­ment is go­ing all out for self suf­fi­ciency in al­most all sec­tors re­duc­ing de­pen­dence on oth­ers that ap­peared to be the wastage of time and de­ceit in the past and there­fore we would not re­peat the past mis­takes. Com­ment­ing on in­dus­tri­al­iza­tion process in the prov­ince the Chief Min­is­ter said that there will be a one win­dow op­er­a­tion that will track the prov­ince on fast track progress and eco­nomic devel­op­ment.

Rest as­sured we have the ca­pac­ity to lead the prov­ince to­wards sus­tain eco­nomic growth. Chief Min­is­ter di­rected the par­tic­i­pants to pull their sleeves and show re­sults as he hates ef­forts that do not give re­sults for the public wel­fare. He has been work­ing on this project for the last three years and now he wanted this to be on ground. He hoped that the public ser­vants would use their best ef­forts and put on ground the planned ex­e­cu­tion of project that were peo­ple friendly and that will ben­e­fit the whole prov­ince.

Mr. Pervez Khat­tak said that the in­ter­est of the prov­ince should be kept supreme and it should be vis­i­ble for the fast track devel­op­ment of the prov­ince. We have al­ready iden­ti­fied di­rec­tion of devel­op­ment of the prov­ince and we have to work on it to get it ac­com­plished.
