SIU Po­lice ar­rest five da­coits, re­cover weapons, cars

ISLAMABAD—Spe­cial In­ves­ti­ga­tion Unit (SIU) of Islamabad po­lice have busted a gang of da­coits in­volved in snatch­ing money from peo­ple and re­cov­ered weapons and two cars bear­ing fake reg­is­tra­tion num­bers from them, po­lice said.

Ac­cord­ing to de­tails, SIU team led by SP In­ves­ti­ga­tion Muham­mad Ilyas ap­pre­hend a gang of five da­coits and re­cov­ered four 30 bore pis­tols along with am­mu­ni­tion, two Corolla cars bear­ing fake reg­is­tra­tion num­bers and in­stru­ments of da­coity from them.

They have been iden­ti­fied as Sooli khan alias Haji, Sha­keel Bacha, Haider Khan, Atta ur Rehman and Jamshed Ali.

They used to keep an eye on the peo­ple go­ing to bank for draw­ing money. One mem­ber of the gang used to go in­side the banks for sur­veil­lance and in­form the other mem­bers of gang out­side about the per­son car­ry­ing amount drawn from bank. The gang mem­bers used to come to bank on a fake Corolla car and then chased the per­sons car­ry­ing money and looted them at gun point. Dur­ing pre­lim­i­nary in­ves­ti­ga­tion, they con­fessed their in­volve­ment in var­i­ous snatch­ing in­ci­dents in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tion is un­der­way from them.—APP
