Long de­ten­tions of Kash­miri lead­ers rapped

SRI­NA­GAR—Se­nior Hur­riyat leader and Chair­man Na­tional Peo­ple Party Syed Salim Gi­lani while strongly con­demn­ing the con­tin­u­ous house con­fine­ment of Syed Ali Gee­lani and Shabir Ah­mad Shah even in sa­cred month of Ra­madan and now fresh ar­rest of Zaf­fer Ak­bar Bhat said, these op­pres­sive tac­tics will never ever weaken the free­dom sen­ti­ment nei­ther the peo­ple of Kash­mir nor the lead­er­ship.

In a state­ment to me­dia, Syed Salim Gi­lani said apart from sev­eral youths, Dr Qasim Fak­too and Masarat Alam Bhat have al­ready been de­tained on charges of innocence since years. He said the tac­tics are be­ing im­ple­mented only to weaken our free­dom sen­ti­ment.

Salim Gi­lani said plac­ing ail­ing Syed Ali Gi­lani un­der house ar­rest and even re­stricted Gee­lani Sahib to of- fer Fri­day con­gre­ga­tional prayers was worst of its rights vi­o­la­tion and di­rect in­ter­fer­ence in re­li­gious mat­ters.

He said the house of Shabir Ah­mad Shah been turned in to a jail.

He said those who made hallow claims of democ­racy can even not face our peace­ful ac­tiv­i­ties and the fresh ar­rest of Zaf­fer Ak­bar Bhat was yet an­other ex­am­ple of state op­pres­sion. —Email has
