Pak con­tin­gent leaves for Asia In­ter­na­tional games

LAHORE—A five mem­ber Pak­istan con­tin­gent left here on Mon­day for Rus­sian Fed­er­a­tion to take part in the 6th Chil­dren of Asia In­ter­na­tional Sports Games be­ing held from July 5-17 at Yaku­tia.

The party com­prises three play­ers and two of­fi­cials, said Muham­mad Khalid Mah­mood, Sec­re­tary, Pak­istan Olympic As­so­ci­a­tion while talk­ing to APP.

He said Kara­mat Ur Rahim will act as chef de mis­sion as well as shoot­ing of­fi­cial.

Nubaira Babur and Fa­tima Aftab are the shoot­ers and Muham­mad Yar is the wrestler. Ghu­lam Farid will of­fi­ci­ate as wrestling of­fi­cial.

The par­tic­i­pa­tion of our play­ers will add to their ex­pe­ri­ence while ex­pos­ing them to high pro­file ex­pe­ri­ence to per­form bet­ter in com­ing in­ter­na­tional meets, said the POA of­fi­cial.

He said the POA was tak­ing ev­ery mea­sure to en­sure the par­tic­i­pa­tion of its ath­letes in elite sports ac­tiv­i­ties abroad as a part of its com­mit­ment to pro­mote games in the coun­try.—APP KARACHI—Omar As­so­ciates lifted the win­ner’s tro­phy of Brighto Paints 5thCor­po­rate Tro­phy T20 Cup when they de­feated K-Elec­tric by three wick­ets in an ex­cit­ing fi­nal here at the DHA Sports Sta­dium, Moin Khan Academy..

Bat­ting first, K-Elec­tric scored 127-8 in the al­lot­ted 20 overs. Fazal Sub­han (39) played a fine knock with the help of two sixes and four bound­aries off just in 31 balls. He was well sup­ported by Yasir Hameed (18), Naveed Javed (18) and Khushdil Shah (18).

For Omar As­so­ciates, Dan­ish Aziz bagged 2-24 and An­war Ali took 2-37.

In re­ply, Omar As­so­ciates reached the tar­get in the 19th over af­ter los­ing seven wick­ets. Dan­ish Aziz, putting up an all-round show, also ex­celled with the bat to score a daz­zling 57 not out with two sixes and four bound­aries off 47 balls.

Azam Khan (22) and An­war Ali (16) also chipped in dur­ing the late overs.

Dan­ish was de­clared man-of-the-match and re­ceived his award from Ad­min­is­tra­tor DHA Brig Mo­ham­mad Zubair who was chief guest on the oc­ca­sion.

An­wer Ali, skip­per of Omar As­so­ciates re­ceived the win­ner’s tro­phy and a cash award of Rs700,000 while Jawed Man­soor cap­tain of KElec­tric got the run­ner-up tro­phy and cash award of Rs350,000.—APP
