Post­grad­u­ate cli­mate change stud­ies in PU on cards

PE­SHAWAR—The Cli­mate Change Cen­ter has moved a pro­posal for launch­ing of Post­Grad­u­ate De­gree Pro­gramme in Cli­mate Change stud­ies at Pe­shawar Univer­sity with the ob­jec­tive of hold­ing thor­ough re­search in chang­ing weather pat­terns and for tak­ing adap­ta­tion be­sides mit­i­gat­ing mea­sures.

“The sum­mary has been moved along with cur­ricu­lum of Cli­mate Change stud­ies to the Aca­demic Coun­cil of Pe­shawar Univer­sity,” in­formed Ir­shad Ali, Deputy Direc­tor Com­mu­ni­ca­tion Cli­mate Change Cen­ter Agri­cul­ture Univer­sity Pe­shawar.

Talk­ing to APP, Ir­shad Ali said the Cli­mate Change cen­ter was set up in Agri­cul­ture Univer­sity with the sup­port of In­ter-Co­op­er­a­tion, an NGO, with the ob­jec­tive of pro­vid­ing in­for­ma­tion about this new phe­nom­ena of chang­ing weather.

How­ever, he con­tin­ued, it has been de­cided to launch post grad­u­ate stud­ies on the sub­ject for hold­ing in­depth re­search in it and find­ing mea­sures to cope with new trend of weather which is badly af­fect­ing agri­cul­ture sec­tor of the coun­try.

Ir­shad in­formed that af­ter ap­proval from the Aca­demic Coun­cil, the sum­mary will move for­ward to Syn­di­cate of Pe­shawar Univer­sity for fi­nal ap­proval af­ter which classes will start.—APP
