Army Chief lauds ser­vices of FWO in na­tion build­ing

IS­LAM­ABAD—Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen­eral Ra­heel Sharif has said that Fron­tier Works Or­ga­ni­za­tions (FWO) has played piv­otal role in spear­head­ing Army’s con­tri­bu­tion in all na­tion build­ing ef­forts.

Ad­dress­ing the cer­e­mony in con­nec­tion with the golden ju­bilee cel­e­bra­tions of FWO held at Thalian near Is­lam­abad Toll Plaza on mo­tor­way on Mon­day, COAS Gen­eral Ra­heel Sharif said that over the years, FWO has de­vel­oped into a strate­gic or­ga­ni­za­tion with tremen­dous ca­pa­bil­ity to de­liver projects of na­tional sig­nif­i­cance.

In ad­di­tion to nu­mer­ous Hy­del and min­ing projects, con­struc­tion of KKH, Cen­tral Trade Cor­ri­dor through wazirstan to Afghanistan, Coastal High­way and now over 1000 km CPEC roads are some of their sig­na­ture projects. Go­ing into in­ac­ces­si­ble ar­eas to con­nect the re­motest parts of the coun­try with main­land, high­est qual­ity work in least time have been its hall­mark.

The COAS con­grat­u­lated them on ac­com­plish­ing the un­think­able and vowed for whole Army to con­tinue work­ing for se­cu­rity and pros­per­ity of the coun­try.

Army Chief Gen­eral Ra­heel Sharif paid trib­utes to 1300 of­fi­cers and sol­diers of FWO for lay­ing down their lives dur­ing ex­e­cu­tions of var­i­ous na­tional projects since their rais­ing in 1966.

Ear­lier on ar­rival at Thalian, the COAS was re­ceived by En­gi­neer in Chief Lt Gen Khalid As­ghar and DG FWO Ma­jor Gen­eral Muham­mad Afzal.—INP
