Release of impounded cargo demanded
AMANULLAH KHAN KARACHI—Sheikh Khalid Tawab (S.I), Senior Vice President (SVP), Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) has urged the Federal Minister for Interior, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to release all the cargo loaded vehicles including exportable goods, enroute to and from Karachi port impounded by the administration to block the entrance towards Islamabad and ensure uninterrupted supply of raw material to the industry, meeting export orders well in time and avoid shortage of consumer goods to the masses.
The FPCCI SVP elaborated that the country’s export are already on decline and this would further aggravate the situation, fearing cancellation of vital export orders as the goods were not reaching the ports. The FPCCI SVP recalled that previously also a large number of vehicles were detained for the same purpose which were afterward burnt, looted and damaged and the business community in general and the goods transporters in particular suffered heavy losses and said that the same situation might not be arisen again.
