Parliamentarians urge world to speak on Indian brutalities in Kashmir
Prominent parliamentarians have urged the international community not to stay silent on the brutalities of Indian armed forces in Indian-held Kashmir. Talking to this news agency here on Tuesday, MNA Ejazul Haq said the decision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to send parliamentarians to important countries of the world for exposing state terrorism of India was a timely and correct step. He said Pakistan should play an effective role in the present situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir, adding that Pakistan would continue extending moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiris’ struggle for their right to selfdetermination. Haq said the world would listen when these parliamentarians would express their viewpoint on the worsening situation in Kashmir. “The parliamentarians chosen by the prime minister would not only meet elected representatives of other countries but would also meet officials of human rights organisations and different governments. They would expose before the world the atrocities committed by India to crush the indigenous freedom movement of the Kashmiris, he added. Haq mentioned that 85 Kashmiris had lost their lives and 500 lost their eyesight as the Indian army used pellet guns to silence their voice. He said the Kashmiri people were given their right to self-determination by the United Nations Security Council through its resolutions. The lawmaker also denied any foreign involvement in the ongoing Kashmir liberation movement, and said it was purely a local movement. He further said that the Foreign Office had contacted the parliamentarians and it would soon hold a briefing for them, and after Eidul Azha they would leave for selected destinations. Haq said the National Assembly speaker would himself contact the chiefs of political parties so that more members could be nominated as the special envoys of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Haq as part of a delegation will be visiting Brussels to highlight the plight of Kashmiris and use of unbridled force by Indian troops. Former minister for Kashmir Affairs and MNA of Pakistan Muslim League-N Major (r) Tahir Iqbal who will visit Saudi Arabia as the special envoy, said the freedom movement in Indian Occupied Kashmir was gaining strength.
