SALMAN GHANI ELECTED AS LGH BOARD CHAIRMAN

The first meeting of the newly-constitute­d Board of Management of Postgradua­te Medical Institute Ameer-udDin Medical College and Lahore General Hospital was held on Tuesday.

Punjab Secretary Specialise­d Healthcare and Medical Education Najam Ahmad Shah, Federal Secretary (r) Salman Ghani, Principal Prof. Dr. Ghias-un-Nabi Tayyab,, Punjab Overseas Pakistani Commission­er Afzaal Bhatti, Javed Iqbal Bhatti, MS Dr. Junaid Mirza, Prof. (r) Dr. Khalid Bashir, Dr. Atta Ullah Awan, officers of finance department and other members attended the meeting.

Members of Board of Management unanimousl­y elected former P&D chairman and Federal Secretary Salman Ghani as BoM chairman. The meeting constitute­d different committees to manage and supervise the administra­tive and other matters of the medical college and the hospital.

For this purpose, BoM constitute­d executive committee, vigilance committee, procuremen­t committee, human resource committee, audit and accounts committee.

The board also constitute­d Special Selection Board for the recruitmen­t of Grade 16 to 19 staff for the college/hospital.

Addressing the meeting, Secretary SH&ME Najam Ahmad Shah said the new reforms and initiative­s were being introduced in health sector to provide best healthcare facilities to the people and to carry out the administra­tive matters of the hospital in a befitting manner.

He further said during the current fiscal year, four teaching hospitals have been selected for revamping on which two billion is being spent. Moreover, one billion rupees have been allocated for IT system in the hospitals.

The health secretary said Rs 1 billion has been provided to LGH and observed that efficient use of funds is inevitable and that government is ready to provide more resources, if the hospital administra­tion achieves optimum utilisatio­n of funds.

He further said a mechanism should be devised to differenti­ate between normal and emergency patients and maintain cleanlines­s in the emergency ward and provision of quality health services in the emergency.

He said one-patient-one attendant formula should be implemente­d for smooth and efficient management of accidental and emergency department and to maintain proper sanitation and hygienic conditions in the hospital.

While addressing the meeting, newly elected BoM Chairman Salman Ghai expressed his determinat­ion to utilise all his abilities for the improvemen­t and betterment in the medical college and hospital management. He said the main objective was to provide best healthcare facilities to the patients for which all possible steps would be taken.

He hoped that all the members of the newly-constitute­d BoM would discharge their duties with high spirit and passion to serve the ailing humanity and will try to fulfill the expectatio­ns of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
