Why In­dian Ads?

Amid es­ca­lat­ing ten­sion with In­dia post-Uri at­tack, Pak­istani gov­ern­ment banned the screen­ing of In­dian films in lo­cal the­atres and cinema houses. Sim­i­larly, the Pak­istan Elec­tronic Me­dia Reg­u­la­tory Author­ity (PEMRA) put sev­eral con­di­tions on the air­ing of In­dian con­tent on TV chan­nels. How­ever, it has not taken any ac­tion against the air­ing of In­dian ads. Cur­rently, every sec­ond com­mer­cial be­ing aired in Pak­istani me­dia hap­pens to be an In­dian ad, which is sur­pris­ing, as well as indicative of the dou­ble stan­dards pur­sued by PEMRA.
