Puppetry is a unique form of theatre. It carries centuries of tradition and rich history and is regarded as an ancient art. It had a distinct position in Ancient Egyptian, Greek and Sub-Saharan African traditions and has undergone a number of changes. The efforts of Pakistan’s National Puppet Theatre to revive this ancient art to its original form is worth commendation. Pakistani Puppet Theatre has used as its themes such topics as Earthquake Victims Day, Kashmir Solidarity Day, Pakistan Day Celebrations and Independence Day Celebrations. This form of theatre provides understanding to children on socio-economic and health related issues in a light-hearted and engaging manner. This dying art form must be revived in order to keep the traditions and culture of Pakistan alive.
