There are some people whose story needs to be told. One of them is Tehmina Durrani, the daughter of S.U. Durrani, a former governor of the State Bank of Pakistan and managing director of PIA. Tehmina became known when the book ‘My Feudal Lord’ came out in 1991 and told the story of how former governor and chief minister Mustafa Khar had treated her as a wife.
Now Tehmina is married to Shahbaz Sharif and they seem to be leading a life of bliss. She busies her life with social work while the husband attends to politics full-time, having become the head of PML (N), after elder brother Nawaz was banned for life. It’s good that Tehmina has turned her attentions to social work. After the general elections, whenever they take place, Shahbaz may too end up doing social work if his political party does not do too well at the polls.
It is for sure though that if he did so much for his part of the Punjab, he will do justice to social work as well and he will find wife Tehmina working right by his side, what with her strong social voice.
