The World Bank Group is a key de­vel­op­ment part­ner in South Asia with a port­fo­lio of 185 projects and cur­rent to­tal com­mit­ments of $30 bil­lion. In fis­cal 2010, the Bank ap­proved 40 projects in the re­gion: $6.7 bil­lion in IBRD loans and $4.6 bil­lion in IDA com­mit­ments. Lend­ing to In­dia in the fis­cal year reached $9.3 bil­lion, the in­sti­tu­tion’s largest vol­ume of lend­ing ever to a sin­gle coun­try in a sin­gle year. World Bank’s de­vel­op­ment strat­egy in the re­gion com­prises of key pil­lars: in­clu­sive growth and cre­at­ing qual­ity jobs, re­spond­ing to fi­nan­cial and food price crises, and pro­mot­ing re­gional co­op­er­a­tion.
