An unwelcome jolt?

Southasia - - Editor's mail -

Unfortunately Afghanistan has become a playing field for foreign powers and its future lies in their hands. President Obama’s nervous decision to withdraw troops can be seen in the conflicting remarks made by some senior level US officials. Will US troops abandon Afghanistan and leave its fate to the unequipped and unprepared Afghan National Army? If so, then the US should be prepared to see a backlash, an outcome it is already wary of. However, the Afghan government has also become too reliant on foreign troops and maybe this will jolt them to take matters in their own hands and chart their destiny themselves.
