Fif­teen- year-old Aitzaz Hasan, a school stu­dent in Hangu, was killed when he tried to stop a sui­cide bomber from en­ter­ing his school. The in­ci­dent took place in Ibrahimzai, a Shia-dom­i­nated re­gion of Hangu. There were al­most 2,000 stu­dents in the school build­ing at the time of the at­tack.

Prime Min­is­ter Muham­mad Nawaz Sharif rec­om­mended the Si­tara-eShu­jaat for Aitzaz Hasan while the govern­ment of Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa de­cided to name Aitzaz’s school af­ter him. Teach­ers and stu­dents also paid rich trib­utes to the young boy.
