It was res­ig­na­tion ga­lore in In­dia. Fol­low­ing in the foot­steps of AAP chair­man and for­mer CM Delhi, Arvind Ke­jri­wal, Andhra Pradesh CM Ki­ran Reddy also re­signed and also quit Congress to protest against the cen­tre's de­ci­sion to carve out the sep­a­rate state of Te­lan­gana. "I am thank­ful to Congress for mak­ing me chief min­is­ter. But I am re­sign­ing in protest as they have di­vided the state and hurt the Tel­ugu people and made their fu­ture dark. I am quit­ting as MLA and the Congress party," he de­clared.

Reddy had been mak­ing ef­forts to pre­vent the bi­fur­ca­tion of Andhra Pradesh. But his ef­forts proved fu­tile when the Te­lan­gana Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha with the BJP com­ing in sup­port of the Congress to clear the Andhra Pradesh State Re­or­ga­ni­za­tion Bill.
