The Afghanistan Geological Survey is gaining the skills needed to explore and exploit the country’s vast natural resources with the help of advisors from the U.S. Task Force for Business and Stability Operations ( TFBSO). It comprises drillers and geologists who will train the first batch from the Afghanistan Geological Survey. The economy of Afghanistan could witness a turnaround if the country is able to mine its natural resources.
Afghanistan is estimated to have $3 trillion worth of mineral deposits, which remain unexploited. Gold, iron ore, copper ore, emeralds, lapis, rubies as well as natural gas are said to be found in large quantities in the north of the country.
