Anoil refinery worth $1.3 billion will be built in the Sheberghan city of the northern Jawzjan province of Afghanistan. The construction work of the oil refinery has been finalized with a Chinese firm. The refinery is expected to produce 6,000 barrels of oil per day. A power generation system will also be installed at the site with a capacity of producing up to 50 megawatt electricity.
Afghanistan is estimated to have $3 trillion worth of mineral deposits, which remain unexploited. Gold, iron ore, copper ore, emeralds, lapis, rubies as well as natural gas are found in the north of the country.
