The de­fense budget of Pak­istan is the low­est in the re­gion de­spite the coun­try’s lo­ca­tion in the red zone in terms of grow­ing threats to its se­cu­rity. This was re­vealed by the Min­istry of De­fense in a brief­ing to the Se­nate De­fense Com­mit­tee. At US$5.7 bil­lion ap­prox­i­mately, Pak­istan’s de­fense al­lo­ca­tion is the low­est in the re­gion as com­pared to the ris­ing de­fense budget of In­dia at US$37.256 bil­lion, China $115 bil­lion, and Turkey $19.1 bil­lion. Out of the to­tal budget, the Pak­istan Army gets 48 per­cent while 20 per­cent goes to the Pak­istan Air force and the Navy gets only 10 per­cent.
