USAID

has awarded ed­u­ca­tional schol­ar­ships to 2,685 chil­dren di­rectly im­pacted by the on­go­ing con­flict in Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa and the Fed­er­ally Ad­min­is­tered Tribal Ar­eas. Armed con­flicts in th­ese ar­eas claimed more than 15,000 lives since 2003, leav­ing be­hind scores of wid­owed women and or­phaned chil­dren. The Con­flict Vic­tims Sup­port Pro­gram of USAID will pro­vide 4,000 ed­u­ca­tional schol­ar­ships to chil­dren who have lost or in­jured fam­ily mem­bers due to the con­flict.

The pro­gram col­lab­o­rates with Pak­istan’s tele­com sec­tor for the dis­burse­ment of schol­ar­ship fund­ing as the grant will be de­posited to the mo­bile ac­counts of stu­dents or their guardians.
