A Nepalese fic­tion film 'The

Con­ta­gious Ap­pari­tions of

Dam­barey Den­drite' won the Golden Comma Award at the Na­tional In­sti­tute of De­sign's South Asian Short and Doc­u­men­tary Film Fes­ti­val 2014. The film was di­rected by Bib­hu­san Bas­net and Pooja Gu­rung and por­trayed the life of a street boy called Dam­barey Den­drite.

Arun Gupta, the fes­ti­val di­rec­tor, said that he be­lieved in show­cas­ing films from neigh­bor­ing coun­tries as it helped foster re­la­tion­ship be­tween dif­fer­ent na­tions, giv­ing them an op­por­tu­nity to un­der­stand each other bet­ter.

In­dia's en­try 'Life' also left a mark on the jury and won the Sil­ver Comma Award. The film was di­rected by Srin­jay Thakur and re­vealed how tech­nol­ogy changes an old re­tired gov­ern­ment worker's life.
