Cricket Craze

An in­ter­na­tional cricket sta­dium will be built in the cap­i­tal of Khost. The foun­da­tion stone of the project was laid by the Act­ing Gov­er­nor of Khost, Ab­dul Jab­bar Naeemi and the Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, Noor Mo­ham­mad Mu­rad.

Cricket is a popular game in Afghanistan and is played by a large num­ber of youth. How­ever, the majority of play­ers are un­able to pur­sue their pas­sion due to lack of in­fra­struc­ture.

De­spite sev­eral hur­dles, the Un­der 19 cricket team of Afghanistan has per­formed well in many na­tional and in­ter­na­tional tour­na­ments in the past. The Un­der 16 team also won the Asian Cricket Coun­cil U16 Elite Cup re­cently.
