3D Celebrations

Southasia - - BRIEFINGS -

Kolkata witnessed a unique celebration of Durga Puja this year as an international street painter, Tracy Lee Stum was invited to help the local people paint a 3D project in the city. The theme was titled Tilottama which signifies both Goddess Durga and Kolkata.

Different forms of art were blended to depict the city and its transition over the years. The 3D painting is spread on a giant plywood canvas of 25 feet by 20 feet on the floor. Tracy worked for over 12 hours a day and finished the painting in five and a half days. She was assisted by four local artists. As against the normal practice of using chalk pastels for street art, acrylic paint has been used in the 3D street paintings.
