Sound opinion

Southasia - - EDITOR'S MAIL - Shahid Karim

It is heartening to note that Pervez Musharraf is making his presence felt, albeit slowly, in the political arena. That he is gradually proving his relevance in the fast changing geopolitical situation of the country as well as the region is clearly noticeable. Some of his statements in the last few weeks were important because of their content as well as timings.

Right when he was warning the nation about the possibility of an Indian proxy war against Pakistan on Afghanistan soil, our army chief was briefing the U.S. officials about India’s violation of the working boundary. It showed that the general still has a good grip on the current situation and knows what’s going around him. His foray into politics couldn’t be termed a success however; he is definitely proving his worth as a statesman.
