Big­ger Share

Min­istry of Com­merce has evolved a strat­egy to gain a big­ger share in the Rus­sian Fed­er­a­tion’s agri­cul­ture and food mar­ket. Five prod­uct cat­e­gories cov­er­ing cit­rus va­ri­eties, potato, rice, dairy prod­ucts and tobacco have been iden­ti­fied for ex­port to Rus­sia. Cur­rently, Pak­istan’s ma­jor ex­ports to Rus­sia in­clude wo­ven cot­ton fab­rics, fruit and fruit prepa­ra­tions, syn­thetic fab­rics, rice, ar­ti­cles of ap­parel


other than tex­tiles, veg­eta­bles and sur­gi­cal in­stru­ments.

Bi­lat­eral trade be­tween Pak­istan and Rus­sia stood at $419.34 mil­lion in 2013-14 as against $484.47 mil­lion in the pre­vi­ous year, re­flect­ing a decline of $65.13m or 13.45 per­cent.
